Worship Workshops

Keith is increasingly being called upon to teach and help coach churches to do worship better.  This as a particular need not just for established churches, but also for new works.

“With one hand in the music and one in the theology, Keith Kitchen weaves together the elements of a worship service and gets us thinking about why we’re there. With one eye on the rich tradition and one on current culture, he helps us to retrieve what’s worthy and reach for what’s worthwhile. His eclectic experience and his informed authenticity make him a great resource for churches who want a workshop that will get worship leaders inspired, or grounded, or both.”

— Dr. Jon Coutts, Trinity College, Bristol, UK.

When Keith teaches a worship workshop, he wants to help churches essentially with 2 things:

Developing a Theology of Worship

Here, we look at the definition of worship and help churches to properly structure their services around a biblical model. The goal is to help churches plan their services more thoughtfully and intentionally.
– “What is Worship?” – Defining worship. What are we talking about when we use that word?
– “Worship and the Greatest Commandment” – What does it look like to worship with all our Heart, Soul, Mind & Strength?
– “Constructing a Service” – What is the “flow” or direction of the worship service?  We look at biblical models for worship.  What is the goal of our worship services?  How do we achieve that goal?  What non-negotiable elements do we need to incorporate into our services.
– “Gospel-Centred Worship” – Why and how the Gospel should be the focus of our worship.

Effective Worship Leading

This section is tailored to the specific needs of the church hosting the workshop, but topics typically  include:
– The role of Worship Leaders/ Worship Teams
– Working in concert with the pastor or preacher.
– Worship Team Dynamics
– Servant Leadership
– Song Selection and Arrangement
– Musical Styles
– Excellence vs. Performance
– Q & A  time where we can address some of the specific issues and concerns facing a particular church.

Please contact us if you’d like more information about hosting a workshop. As with everything Keith does, the goal is to sharpen and strengthen the worshipping life of local churches across Canada.
